Learn to read your land, starting with water

About New Eyes

New Eyes is the land companion of Permaculture The World. This is a beta: it is still being tested, so check what it suggests on your land, and tell us when something is wrong.

New Eyes helps you learn to see your land: how water, terrain, plants, buildings and people relate, so you can design with them. Your own observations come first. The map offers clues to check.

New Eyes reads land one topic at a time, starting with water: where rain runs, gathers and soaks in.

  1. Find your land. Type an address or paste coordinates, or drag and zoom the map.
  2. Find water clues. The map calculates where rain is likely to run and gather. These are clues, not facts.
  3. Add what you know. Mark wet spots, roofs, plants and paths. Your eyes on the ground outrank the map.

On a phone, all of it works. Tap to place each corner when you outline something, drag or pinch to move the map, and drag a card's handle down to see more of the map. A bigger screen gives the design more room.

Your drawings and notes stay on this device unless you choose to send them to the AI design partner. Everything else works without the AI. Save them to a file to keep them. Map pictures and elevation data are loaded from public services, which can see which area you're viewing. What's loaded · How your data is stored
